It has been my longtime passion to
study Architecture and become an Architect. The environment at Manchester
University is very inspiring and is well equipped with state of the art facilities
like the the library, computers which provides an aspiring architect with
the right atmosphere in which to develop and nurture their ideas to
reality. Manchester School of Architecture is internationally
regarded as one of the United Kingdom's top Universities which means
I will get the opportunity to study with the best hence positively
contribute to the dynamic universe. The high academic standards of
the University make it a force to reckon with by the UK and by overseas
employers who make having Manchester graduates a must have in the
Architectural firms. As life is a balance of work and pleasure,
Manchester being the home of the famous Manchester United Football
Club makes it an exciting place to be and study.
Personal Review of a Recent Building
that I have visited

Namirembe Cathedral |
|
Cathedral Interior |
Namirembe Cathedral is reputed for
being the oldest cathedral in Uganda designed by Arthur Pite. The Cathedral poses an emotional appeal that is characteristic of the
Gothic style of Architecture. It has columns and extravagant ceilings
and pointed roof designs. These style flaunts bowed and cuspid
arches, centerpieces and columns were wealth and pride. The windows
are made of sainted glass art works displaying various stories/events
in the Christian faith. The building was designed in a way which
makes it appear as the architects canvas hence being a work of art.
Despite its age, it has its geometrics to a fine detail as seen by
the human eye and it has proven the taste of time in the structure
strength.

Antoni Gaudi |
Antoni Gaudi a Spanish architect (25
June 1852–10 June 1926) whose works portray freedom in mind and a
break away from convention. His distinctive and individual style can
be seen in his works as they are free of the common angular faces of
buildings. He derived his passion from four life passions nature,
religion, architecture and the love for Catalonia(people who form an
origin of a historical nationality in northern Spain). He studied
every detail of his architecture in which he integrated a series of
craft skills like ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging
and carpentry. He never made details drawings but spent most of the
time on making the model of his works.
A
work of Architecture which I would like to experience in person.

Casa Mila |
I would like to tour the Casa Mila
building that is located in Barcelona Spain. It is famous for its
bold forms of undulating stone facade, wroughtiron decoration and the
plaster ceilings. It is not of the common angular shapes that we have
making it unique.
